January 1-5 - Danza de los Negritos (Huanuco)

Is perhaps the greatest dance of artistic quality and its reputation transcends the boundaries of the department. It runs from December 25 to January 18 in the province of Huanuco and recalls the work of black slaves in the cane farms huanuqueñas and their dreams of freedom, also reflects the luxury and splendor in the colors of the costumes.

The dance is performed in which gangs roam the city to the hype, the births of visiting the major churches and houses. It begins by recalling the work in the field, two-caporales luxuriously dressed in costumes embroidered with gold thread and silver, glass beads, sequins and point the way to follow, just as they did in the days farming. Other characters are the "Turkish", the "Lady", the "Corrochano" (old Spanish hidalgo of long-bearded, whip and that scares Matraca with children) and the "Authority".

January 17-30 - National Marinera
