Huamanga province was established by Act of February 15, 1825. It has a superficial extension of 2 981.37 km ², with 185 640 inhabitants and is divided into 14 districts: Ayacucho (capital), Acocro, Acos Vinchos, Carmen Alto, Chiara, Ocros, Pacaycasa, Quinua, Ticllas of San Jose, San Juan Bautista, Santiago de Pischa, Socos, and Tambillo Vinchos. It is characterized by a temperate climate, dry and healthy, with an average temperature of 17.5 ° C. The rainy season lasts from November to March. |
